Asset value and regulatory uncertainty

Gunfleet Sands is one of the UK's older offshore wind farms. Ørsted taking full ownership to plan for late life and possible lifetime extension shows that mature assets can still hold value — provided they are inspected, maintained and upgraded.

Revolution Wind shows the opposite risk. Even with all 65 turbines installed and power flowing, a request to reconsider its approval adds uncertainty for the developer and contractors.

For investors, both stories feed the same calculation: how long an asset can earn, and how secure its permits are.
